So let me get this straight...

Wednesday night. The night after the All-Star Game. Nothing, sports-wise, on television. ESPN tapes the ESPYs. Doesn't show them. Waits until Sunday night. Shows people highlights and gives results on Thursday morning. Tell me again how this is a good idea.

Wouldn't you rather watch a taped "celebrity" softball game? Or the worst home run derby in history again?? Pretty dumb how they announce all the winners on ESPN.com and then expect you to watch just to see LeBron do his best MC Hammer (which might actually be funny). You should watch World Series of Pop Culture on VH1. Not bad.

Completely agree with you...although I did think that the commercials with Kimmel and King James were really funny.

This is the point. They're relying on hype to draw interest, but in essence deflecting the hype by telling you what will happen. It's like yesterday I had this great idea for an anniversary present, and for ten minutes I talked about how she'd flip, and ended up just telling her what the present was. I'm no better than ESPN. But I expect ESPN to do a better job than me. Not at marriage, but at building hype.
