"James is angry and defiant"

So Thursday night I spoke as part of a lecture series at a history museum in Elmira, New York on women's history in baseball, specifically World War II and the AAGPBL. I went with a co-worker who had graduated from Elmira College and done a significant amount of research on the topic, so it proved to be a pretty fun night.

We were asked to send in a brief biography so we could be introduced and my co-worker's read like this:

"Amanda is an avid Red Sox fan and graduate from Elmira College..." and so on. It's not important past this point.

So I changed hers to read "Amanda is an avid and triumphant Red Sox fan..." And started mine "James is an angry and defiant Houston Astros fan and graduate of..." Again, not important.

However, the lady who introduced us botched my biography and instead announced "James is angry and defiant. A graduate of..." and she went on.

I thought of correcting her, but she was in the middle of the rest of mine and then I thought: Wait. What she said was fairly accurate. I AM angry and defiant...
