This article, about Cincinnati QB Dustin Grutza went and done got his leg broke in a sack.
Here's an excerpt, from Cincy wideout Mardy Gilyard's perspective:
“I actually watched it all happen. It was kinda... it was really hard just to watch our quarterback get folded like he did and the things that went on underneath that pile, that the refs didn't see.
“Grutza was kind of twisted up underneath a couple guys. I seen a couple of guys reaching and grabbing and doing a little twisting that they shouldn't have been doing around his face, rolling over on his ankle here and there. Just stuff that wasn't good ball in my opinion, just wasn't good ball.”
Here's Grutza's take:
“I felt like a dude dove in or fell right on my right leg,” Grutza said. “One guy was kind of holding me up and another guy fell on my leg. I knew it was pretty bad.”
So there's no point penalization on OU for this, I'm guessing any reaching and grabbing and doing a little twisting happens in every single dogpile. We have two dogs, and when they form a pile there are all sorts of unmentionable things going on.l
But then Grutza singled out Stoops:
“He came up and told me I played a great game,” Grutza said. “He told me I was a great player and stuff. He's a great guy and that shows class.”
OU +1 (OU +1 on the season).
