Now for south of the Red River

My cocky brother-in-law is correct. Lamarr Houston, starting defensive tackle for the Longhorns, was arrested after a minor traffic accident early Sunday morning (i.e., following the game). Lamarr Houston will not be joining the Longhorns in El Paso next weekend for the game - this does not sound like punishment to me - game time temperature looks like 87 degrees in Far West Texas.

OU +3 (OU +3 overall)

The Longhorns retired Vince Young's jersey before the game Saturday night.

Texas +1 (OU +2)

Texas was up 28-10 at halftime, and scored 24 more in the second half, but McCoy came out after going up 35 points (which, if you play College Football on PlayStation, is an acceptable time to put the second string in.). To go up 42-10, UT got the ball after a blocked punt.

You can't fault backup quarterback John Chiles for throwing the ball around (one, because he's not calling the plays), but two, he's trying to get ready for when he's in a meaningful situation in a game.

On another note, reporters were trying to figure out how defensive coordinator Will Muschamp's shirt was drenched in blood. Turns out early in the game, Muschamp was upset about a blown pass coverage and hit a clipboard - but it in turn hit him in the face. Now there's nothing funnier than seeing inanimate objects fight back in over-aggressive testosterone-fueled situations.

Muschamp's blood makes this an even situation.

After Monday of Week 1, OU is +2. More throughout the week.
