Election Day

In 2000, George W. Bush won Florida's electoral votes - and the presidency - by 537 out of 5,963,110 votes.

Campaigning for a seat on the Massachusetts Governor's Council on the day of the primary in 1988, Herbert Connelly lost track of time and arrived at the poll a few minutes after they closed, unable to vote. He lost by one vote.

Marcus Morton was elected Governor of Massachusetts in 1839 by one vote out of 102,066 votes cast.

One vote in the Electoral College got Rutherford B. Hayes elected in 1876.

Your vote matters.
