Look, it's easy to try to be philosophical about this when your guy wins. But trust me, I know how you feel. For eight years now my guy hasn't been in the White House. But you know what I did? I prayed for the guy, anyway. And I prayed for our country.

Writer and diplomat Joseph Marie de Maistre (1753-1821) was a smart guy. He once said, “False opinions are like false money, struck first of all by guilty men and thereafter circulated by honest people who perpetuate the crime without knowing what they are doing.”

But he also said, "Every country has the government it deserves."

I've seen some pretty hateful things said about a guy who has done nothing but campaign on a platform of hope and changing America with a pretty clearly articulated plan for achieving both. The problem was for a long time McCain campaigned on what a bad guy Obama is, and how terrible Obama's plan is. And it seems like my Republican friends bought into it - which makes sense, given the fact that's how it works when you trust somebody to run the country, and not their opponent.

Just to be clear, though. Obama - and this is from Fox News - is not a Muslim.

In fact, in an April 2004 (and just to be clear, again, that's four years ago) Chicago Sun-Times article, Obama says, "I am a Christian...So, I have a deep faith," Obama continues. "I'm rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe that there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people. That there are values that transcend race or culture, that move us forward, and there's an obligation for all of us individually as well as collectively to take responsibility to make those values lived."

It's okay to be upset McCain didn't win. It's okay to be upset Obama did win. But over 60 million people voted for Obama - and they're all Americans, too, and it's not okay to say they're not.

And if you're still not convinced, Obama did say this on college football: "I'm fed up with these computer rankings and this and that and the other. Get eight teams -- the top eight teams right at the end. You got a playoff."

I couldn't bring myself to vote for either of these guys. I came into this vote feeling that Obama was going to be bad and was the worst candidate. However, McCain wasn't much better in my mind and voting for him would just encourage more of the same from the republican party. I ended up voting libertarian (which really lines up more with my beliefs andyhow, unfortunately they will never become a major party).

I still don't think Obama is going to be good, especially in this economy. However, I'm ready to give him a chance. I hope I'm wrong about him. It's no fun being right if being right means bad things.

For the record, I don't think he's a muslim, I do think he has a valid birth certificate. I am somewhat concerned about his associations, especially his preacher but can deal with it.

PS where did you find the mangino baby photo? Hilarious.
